Vaccinated Employees Will Receive $200 Says Alaska Airlines

Companies in the United States are setting incentives for workers in a bid to get more people to get vaccinated against the virus.

Alaska Airlines To Issue $200 Bonus To Vaccinated Employees

Alaska Airlines has revealed that employees who have been vaccinated will receive a $200 bonus. The move is to ensure that the company’s thousands of employees get vaccinated against the Coronavirus as businesses start to reopen.

The company said employees who share proof of vaccination by 15 October would receive the bonus. Furthermore, Alaska Airlines will require its unvaccinated employees to be tested regularly for the Coronavirus. The company is yet to mandate its employees to take vaccines but stated that it is considering issuing that mandate later this month.

Alaska Airlines has over 68,000 employees on its payroll and will require them to get vaccinated unless for religious and medical reasons. The airlines operator said it would no longer cover the medical expenses for unvaccinated employees that get exposed to Covid or related infections.

In addition to these, the unvaccinated employees would be required to attend a vaccine education program, as the company ramps up efforts to encourage more people to get vaccinated against the virus. Newly hired employees would have to be vaccinated before they can work at Alaska Airlines or its subsidiary Horizon Air.

Airline companies in the United States have been putting in certain measures to ensure that their staff is vaccinated. This is because they risk exposure to the virus as they transport passengers to various destinations within and outside the country.
