La staffetta 4x100 metri maschile degli Stati Uniti ha perso di nuovo il grande palcoscenico. Questa volta il testimone non è caduto e non c’è stata squalifica o divieto per doping ma uno scambio disordinato. Il quartetto ha ottenuto il sesto posto nelle manche di questa mattina allo stadio Nazionale di Tokyo, con conseguente esclusione dalla finale.

Il “figlio del vento” Carl Lewis ha criticato apertamente la squadra. “In questa staffetta il quartetto Usa ha sbagliato tutto. - ha detto Lewis - Il sistema di passaggio del testimone era completamente sbagliato, gli atleti correvano in modo anche questo sbagliato ed è stato chiaro che non c’era leadership.
Insomma, un imbarazzo totale ed è inaccettabile per un quartetto degli Usa essere andati peggio di uno di liceali che ho visto io”.
