This is an interesting perspective on these what I call "Bear Market" rallies. Today we are in an usual set of circumstances where fundamentally sound balance sheets like Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, 3M, CLF, & more can have strong revenue but miss expectations by 5% or less but they'll fall by almost 20%. If they beat expectations they'll barely go above 5% and in many cases they'll fall mysteriously. Today we're in a market full of uncertainty. Things do not make sense in the way equities are behaving. Famed economist Jeremy Spiegel on CNBC said he expects Fed Hikes to cont to rise into 2023 so this won't end anytime soon. Second, Mortgage Rates are above 5% and will cont to rise however there's some good news that Construction of new homes will occur in the next 2 QTRS. The issue today for REITs is Affordability vs. Availability as shared on CNBC. In order to drive affordability there needs to be MORE new homes to cool off demand or if not the scenario will be Hyper inflation of old established Homes as I've seen on these sites. Last, rentals are going higher than the Norm. My understanding is that rent prices are up due to the pandemic as the Govt made it difficult to collect $$$ during the lockdown. This caused many issues for Landlords and Land owners that has driven them to escalate prices above market. So would a person TODAY pay $3,500 in rent for a small 2 BR? I doubt it. Homeownership will always be the prize! Why rent expensively when you can OWN. $ORC, $NLY, $EFC, $EARN, $TWO, $MPW, $CHMI, $AGNC & more will be re-positioned for the future. That's why they've cut the Dividend recently for some. Its going to be full of market uncertainty for awhile. As we face historically high inflation across food, gas, & travel, War in Ukraine will cont into late 2022, Mortgage rates will eventually get to 6%+, Fed will Hike another 50 basis pts and more. This is a bear market so be patient with all REITs as their in different positions. They'll cont to climb as the market normalizes as these are mortgage backed securities by the Government so its protected. Be patient and GL to ALL!!

Yesterday $IVR beat estimates by $0.03 and $ORC as we know beat revenue YoY but not target by a smidge, and $NLY beat their target for Q1 and let's not forget $AGNC destroyed estimates showing they have cash in their balance sheets as their very liquid. The point I'm making today is to show investors that the REITs market is not as imbalanced or in dangerous liquidity territory as folks thought the past few months. Look at the earnings across the board in this sector. Some are doing better than others but the marker is fundamentally solid I would say for now. If you have $500, I would load up on $AGNC, $ORC, & $NLY. Things can turn the negative as many experts say we'll hit a Recessionary environment by eoy or early 2023. But I think we can say that the REITs sector is doing okay or slightly better than what we thought. Look into $TWO and $EARN at your discretion. Y'all stay safe!!!

5/27 Update: The retail data this week were rather mixed. Costco missed short on earnings while Zoom surprsingly did well in Q1. This has anchored down all stocks unfortunately in this Bear market. Right now, home sales are slowly declining which I've shared previously that the root issue is Affordability vs Availability. In housing if not enough newly made homes are available then home prices of older homes will cont to rise thus creating some imbalance. The REITs sector will get some jabs to the stomach bc we're in Bear market territory for a longtime but this is the time to patiently wait on the sideline as Fed cont to Hike rates further...and it will happen. $ORC is Repositioning like any other REIT but I truly believe once the overall market normalize the stocks will perform more consistently stable. $ORC much like $AGNC, $NLY, $TWO, and others are hidden passive income gems. These are not growth stocks only Dividend stocks. So please understand the difference respectfully. Here's another solid dividend paying stocks to look at: $MSB and $SSSS are higly recommended for dividend producing stocks for the longterm not short term. So do your research as always as I look forward to seeing more posts on this board soon. Enjoy the Memorial weekend!

Here's my next observation on the market. MSB, many would agree should be spiraling downward however as I've said ad nauseam, the market is frothy w artificial behavior in price action. Look at Apple, it fell around 6% while Walmart fell due to its reported earnings however the market is using this to confirm "suspicion" that we're heading into a Recession. When analysts & institutions believe a story it'll manifest in the market. These actions are "Anemic". Their going in multiple directions devoid of balance sheet or pricing power which mean strong financials that can push inflating prices onto its customers. Think of companies like Home Depot, 3M, Walmart, etc. The issue is that the recent customer data is revealing that they're getting tired of paying these inflated prices. This is creating a reverberating trend of negative activity on the SP. Now, MSB is seen to me as a counter to inflation bc materials, energy and other sectors typically perform better under these conditions. MSB is in a peculiar movement that's been going on for months like many other stocks. Look at Gamestop, its a meme stock but it shouldn't grow sharply. We also have pricing movement that makes utterly no sense. MSB is part of a "gaming" market. That was why I've predicted 6 wks ago it would arrive at $25 sooner than anticipated and it reveals my opinion is true. Look at 5/18. Why in the world, is MSB at $25, when across all sectors were being slammed due to paltry retail numbers this week?? Its outpacing CLF still. Does that make sense? And just say market turns Green, MSB will take the benefits of it and it'll add onto the position which is why I still believe that with everything floating about MSB it'll get to $27 by Mid June. Its just a bet. But I would say, pick your space bc the uncertainty will ravage this market for awhile. My suggestion to combat Inflation is buying Dividend stocks in the REITs or Energy sectors like $SHLX, $ORC, $AGNC, and more. But GL to All!!!

Today I saw this news from Marketbeat website as it appears $ORC was a victim of SHORT interest from Institutional investors based on the following:: ""Orchid Island Capital was the target of a large decline in short interest during the month of March. As of March 15th, there was short interest totalling 10,360,000 shares, a decline of 41.1% from the February 28th total of 17,600,000 shares. Based on an average daily volume of 4,790,000 shares, the short-interest ratio is currently 2.2 days."" That mean, it was a TARGET. It was planned. ORC is in good position as according to reports there is a drought of "under" development of homes as we're 4 Million homes that needs to be built according to Redfin real estate. So as I said before, inflation & Fed hikes will put a damper on demand but not as severe bc families need homes and some are willing to lock-in at higher interest rates. It still mean there's a chance of loss revenue but I think the upside is bigger. Let the Fed officially hike Rates and pounce on the declines. Look into $IRCP, $AGNC, NLY, OXLC, $O, & other dividend payout stocks. But look into ORC again and buy so once things stabilize you'll double your money. GL to ALL!

People criticise $AGNC for slashing dividends over the last 10 years, but they've currently got a yield of 9%! If you've got a stock with a 6% yield and they increase dividends dividends by 5% every year, it will take them 9 years to reach a higher dividend... During that time, $AGNC will outperform. So yeah. $AGNC is solid. I also like $LTC, $O and $STAG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8Q_TvgRuYQ

Dividend slashed to 18 cents, a 10% drop.
They should be giving us all their extra cash, not buying back shares, or anything else.
they need to enrich us, instead of finding ways to steal our money.
I wonder if this has to do with buying back their manager.
they spend millions they don't have, and say it will be cash positive in 7 years,
drop the dividend, and give themselves a stock bonus for allegedly saving money.
if anything, since they cut the dividend, they should cut their bonuses and cut their salary.

MREIT investors are for the most part coward and sell on any news they think is negative...Interest rates are 1/4er higher but REITS have Interest Rate Swapps to protect the spread...I will just continue to collect my $1,500.00 a month month after month...

If you bought AGNC in 2012 when it went public at $20.00 you would have collected over $30.00 in dividends and still own the shares collecting the div...I added another $55,000 yesterday and will now collect $1,500,00 a month or $18,000 for 12 months...That is equal to buying a social security check...

One way to gauge what the crowd thinks of AGNC vs. some of the other mREITS is to look at the holders tab and see who owns AGNC compared to who owns, say, NLY or CYS. While not scientific it does show how people and institutions are voting with their money. AGNC individual investors? One, in for 1000 shares. NLY? 5 holding enough shares to require disclosure. 3 above 100,000 shares including one above 1.5m shares. How about institutional holders. Look at AGNC's. Recognize any names there? Look at NLY and CYS (as examples.) Vanguard, Blackrock, State Street, Invesco sound familiar? Check out the top mutual fund holders of NLY. Now compare with AGNC. Hmm, none listed for AGNC, maybe the list fell behind the fax machine.
Not scientific but, well, maybe the longs here know something everyone else missed. Or not.
