Moscow wants to scale back curbs in line with the OPEC+ deal, according to people familiar with the matter. A Kremlin spokesman had earlier said Russia would analyze the market before making any decision at a June 9-10 OPEC+ meeting. Meanwhile, the U.S. is considering a range of sanctions to punish China for its crackdown on Hong Kong, further deteriorating their relationship.Crude in New York has surged about 80% in May, clawing back the declines of the previous two months. The physical market has also recovered in recent days. Online fashion retailer Boohoo has rejected accusations by a short-seller that it has inflated its cash flow and played down the eventual cost of its majority stake in PrettyLittleThing. In a statement, the group said on Wednesday that it “strongly refuted” the assertions made by UK hedge fund Shadowfall, which has bet against Boohoo’s shares. Hong Kong’s stock exchange group took a big step in its efforts to broaden its appeal to international investors on Wednesday when it snatched a key derivatives licensing agreement from the hands of its Singapore rival after 23 years, sending SGX’s shares tumbling. The deal will allow Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing to offer futures and options contracts based on 37 of MSCI’s equities indices, mostly in Asia, from June. SGX warned analysts that its loss of the contract would hit 2021 profits by 10-15 per cent. Its shares fell by 12 per cent, its largest one-day drop in more than a decade.
