The company says it’s the “first self-custodial lightning wallet that runs on the web” – a design feature that may avoid any restrictions that might be placed on the technology from app stores run by the likes of Apple or Google.
The new third-party payment service claims to be independent of the Damus iPhone app that Apple has tried to restrict, and lets users tip one another on any app that runs on the Nostr protocol.
Apple had threatened to eject the bitcoin-friendly social media app from its App Store by June 27 unless Damus removed the ability to receive bitcoin tips via “zaps” on content posts.
