Today was an yuuuuuuuuuuuuuge up day for Ford $F, $JPM, $VLO, $DUK, $ETR (mmm smell that? fossil fuels,... I love the smell of CO2 in the morning) and a bunch of other normal profitable, non-hyped up baseless EV's that run on fossil fuels/"tech" money losing stocks.

Let's look at the chart and see how much they were up today,.. shall we?

My first position in $DUK. Got in today at 79.06 and 79.13, hope it will hold above this level. I am planning to hold long-term. How long have you been invested in this stock?

Adding to DUK position on any dip below 80. Getting 79.25 sure was a nice enter point. DUK presence is growing fast in FL. Nat Gas plant in Citrus County underway!

I've followed this stock for many years as I have a lot invested in it. It always fluctuates up and down around $5 within a given week. But when it's under $80ish. Sell when it's over $83ish. By following that, My topical rate of return for the year is 16%.

Don't like these new Yahoo boards at all. Anyway how much lower do we get so we can continue upward again? $82 I'm thinking. Rest of sectors are now becoming over priced and over valued as well. Utilities trading at historic levels too. Cash may be the best option right now lol

"Duke Derivative Litigation Notice" Do I understand right that Duke has to cough up $27,000.000, and all of this will go to a bunch of law firms with no money and no other conceivable benefit to Duke shareholders? I hope I'm wrong and anyone who has read the notice we've received and understands it better than I, please correct my misunderstanding. If my interpretation is more or less correct, please explain me why law firms such these (and class action firms that settle with no money to class members) are not in the extortion business.

    OK,
I'll ask, since others here are probably more experienced. One poster said buy when it hits 80. Well, it is close.
Anyone else have targets? I'm a chartist, so I have some, but you guys first, I'm the FNG.

The Utilities as a group were in a massive bubble back in July, about the the time the 10 year treasury was between 1.3 and 1.5%. Today the treasury got as high as 2.14 and is OVERBOUGHT. We have gone up very quickly. It hasn't been pretty, particularly today. Add to positions you have that you like for the long haul. Even with clean air technologies the DEMAND for electricity WILL continue to go up and the utility group will respond either by consolidation within itself, buying clean air technologies, etc........In the meantime, you will get paid every three months.......

Consider this.......If you are a senior citizen like myself, where are you going to get 3 to 5% initially on an investment and pay effectively 10% back to the federal government if the dividends are qualified? If you have CD's that are lucky enough to get 2% or better you will be paying roughly 20-30% back to the federal government. Also, at this point in time if you had muncipals you might get 1% tax free return....And that 1% for money market funds you will get clobbered on federal taxes. Today's price of $76 for Duke, that was $85+ could go lower. If you bought it $85 you can hold out longer and add some more to your position. Or buy a different utility at distressed prices. Over time you will survive and in the meantime have higher after tax $'s......
