$NOK Japan partners with Nokia, China may follow, leaving Ericsson behind
In addition, according to Nikkei, Japan has teamed up with Finland on 6G development. NTT and Nokia enlisted to help set standards in race with China.

Japan’s Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium will sign the agreement soon with Finnish group 6G Flagship. The accord is to be announced Tuesday at the Global Digital Summit 2021, an event organized by Nikkei and Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

The initiative follows a $4.5 billion commitment by Japan and the U.S. toward the development of next-generation communications technology, in a partnership announced in April. Extending the cooperation to “third-countries” to promote secure connectivity is seen helping in the competition with China to set global standards.

The Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium, which aims to commercialize 6G technology in the 2030s, includes the University of Tokyo along with major Japanese telecom players such as Nippon Telegraph & Telephone, NTT Docomo, KDDI, SoftBank Corp. and Rakuten Mobile. 6G Flagship is led by Finland’s University of Oulu.

Members of the Japanese consortium will engage in joint research projects and personnel exchange. The group is in talks for future collaboration with an American counterpart that includes telecom supplier Cisco Systems and chipmaker Intel.

Shares of 5G patents owned by Japanese developers have fallen behind the likes of South Korea’s Samsung Electronics and U.S. player Qualcomm. NTT Docomo holds about 6% of 5G patents, compared with roughly 10% for Qualcomm and China’s Huawei Technologies.

The internal affairs ministry aims for Japan to command at least a 10% share in 6G patents together with a slice of 30% or more in equipment and software.

Many investors expect China to follow and partner with Nokia for it’s own initiatives.

$NOK Analysts and the market keep forgetting a very important partnership that took place in Jan 2021- when Nokia partnered with powerhouse Google.
It's important to note that Google plans to be an active company with 5G innovation and implementation. Nokia's partnership with Google can be a signal for huge future growth that the market may not be giving Nokia due credit to. Article from Light Reading on Jan 14, 2021 states:
"The latest partnership between Nokia and Google comes a few months after they announced a deal under which the Finnish vendor will move its IT systems into the public cloud. The five-year contract means Nokia will jettison its own data centers and servers – along, presumably, with the staff who manage them – and run IT systems and various software applications through Google Cloud. It anticipates "meaningful operational cost savings and efficiencies" as it cuts back on real estate, energy costs and hardware spending.

The Internet giants have continued their advance into the telecom sector in the last year, striking deals with equipment vendors and service providers alike."

I will buy 25 shares of Nokia next week for every like this post gets and 50 shares for every positive comment.

$NOK Most realists here believe we don't need a squeeze at all. Nokia is a MAJOR player in a series of technologies that when taken together comprise what is being called "The Fourth Industrial Revolution". (Google that)

This will be bigger than any of the three previous industrial revolutions (and they were huge).Ericsson 's Q4 report on Friday showed that the 5G game (which kickstarts this revolution) is just now coming into its own. So squeeze or not, Nokia is completely undervalued and has been artificially manipulated by Wall Street big shots. Their ability to perform that manipulation is coming to an end soon - and even better, their plan is to eventually flip their strategy and let this stock run and make money on the sure to come HUGE upswing with all of us tagging along!

It's reaching a turning point or tipping point where it becomes in Wall Street's best interest to let Nokia run; because they will make make more money doing that than by manipulating the pps to destroy options on the expire date (as they have been doing for the last few years). That's why they knock it down on Thursdays and Fridays.

What WE can do is make them decide to switch their tactics NOW instead of next year by continuing to bombard it with buying activity. They have been accumulating shares at bargain prices for years - bargain prices that THEY artificially created (as they did on Friday by pushing it down to 4.56 on high volume.) Check out Black Rock's holding in Nokia and you will see that what I'm saying is true.

They are getting close to wanting and even needing it to start running up!

Like this post to keep it trending and encouraging everyone to keep the accelerator on the floor! Copy and paste this from me (Rich Saunders) to help keep it trending.

I am a former AT&T / Lucent / Bell-Labs engineer from Massachusetts who follows their technology very closely, so BELIEVE me when I tell you that Nokia will Kick #$%$ in the fourth industrial revolution and become a trillion dollar market cap company over the next 5 to ten years. But big profits will come for us much sooner than that. BUY, BUY, BUY - DON'T SELL! Good luck to all of us! $NOK

Nokia $NOK Debunking common myths. And a look at recent news.

As a long on Nokia, I have been lurking this sub and I see a lot of the same misconceptions about Nokia and well, I believe its time for me to bring some clarity to the reality that is $NOK

Myth #1 Nokia is a phone company.

This is wrong, Nokia is not a phone company. They sold their phone business to Microsoft back in 2013 for over 7 billion dollars, later it was sold by Microsoft to HMD for 350 million dollars in 2016, who currently makes the phones. Nokia just gets royalties for the use of their name.

Myth #2 Nokia has been under the same failed management for 25 years.

Correction, Nokia hired on a new CEO Pekka Lundmark in August of 2020 and took full leadership in September. He previously worked for Nokia between 1990 and 2000, when he helped oversee the company’s emergence as the world’s biggest mobile phone manufacturer and a significant player in mobile infrastructure.

    Career history:

    President and CEO, Fortum, 2015–2020

    President and CEO, Konecranes, 2005–2015

Group Executive Vice President, Konecranes, 2004–2005

    President and CEO, Hackman, 2002–2004

    Managing Partner, Startupfactory, 2000–2002

Senior Vice President, Marketing, Nokia Internet Communications, 1998–2000

Vice President, Strategy & Business Development, Nokia Telecommunications, 1996–1998

Vice President, Access Systems Business Unit, Nokia Telecommunications, 1994–1996

Managing Director, Nokia Telecommunications Denmark, 1992–1994

Account Manager, Nokia Cellular Systems, 1990–1992

Myth #3 Nokia is not involved with Autonomous vehicles and cant be compared to Blackberry

Myth #4 Nokia is losing market share due to competition

While yes, there is strong competition in the 5G market, Huawei the global leader, is facing bans across the United States and Europe, ZTE who makes up a small fraction of the market share is also seeing geopolitical pressure. Current estimates of market share show the following Huawei 28.5% Ericsson 26.5% Nokia 22% Samsung 8.5% ZTE 5% and others 9.5%.

Here is an updated list on each countries stance on Huawei and ZTE. The list is growing as more and more countries decide to venture away from Chinese telecommunication equipment.

    https://www.channele2e.com/business/enterprise/huawei-banned-in-which-countries/

With more countries joining on the list, there is an increase demand on the others within the market to pick up the lost market share.

Myth #5 Nokia isn’t a cyber security company like BlackBerry

Nokia actually is involved in the cyber security field in many important ways. Nokia Smart Grid for example, is designed specifically for one of our largest threats faced by modern nations, Power Utilities.

Myth #6 Nokia isn’t doing anything to make itself more profitable

    Nokia Cuts Jobs in France

Staying in Europe, Nokia said it was cutting 1,233 jobs in France, largely impacting research and development positions at its Alcatel-Lucent subsidiary.

Nokia has been slashing jobs amid a global cost savings program originally announced in late 2018. “Nokia is reinforcing its efforts and has earlier launched a global evaluation of its [research and development] operation that has led to significant adjustments globally,” a company spokesperson said in a statement.

Like $NOK overall, I believe the 5G FastMile FWA Router announcement with $TMUS is being completely underestimated and the fact that NOK leads in this market globally with other carriers such as Swisscom, Optus, Zain, and others further validates that NOK will see significant growth in 2021.

TMUS's strategy is genius as they are not marketing to replace your cable provider at home, but provide a separate secure Office Internet connection. Cable providers bundle Internet with T.V., security, and mobile devices so making a switch isn't easy, but adding an Office Internet connection as part of an onboarding of new employees is much easier and cleaner than implementing an expense or stipend program. (Especially for Fed, State, and Local Gov't Employees as Tax issues arise due to the need to separate out personal vs. business use)

This is being underestimated and, with all the FWA contracts NOK has signed, I expect this will bring in NEW revenue of $2B to $4B in 2021 globally and more than offset the business lost with VZ.

NOK will see $8 to $10 per share once this is realized unless they are acquired first.
